Lunch Time

Lunch in the 1850s was very different than the lunches we have now. Students brought their food to school in a basket or tin pail or wrapped in a cloth. Students ate anything they could make or grow at home. Some schools had small gardens for the students to tend. This helped them to practice their farming skills and provided some food for the schoolhouse. Which of these items would have been eaten for lunch in the 1850s?
